who we are in the dark fuses daring contemporary dance with supercharged live music and sophisticated design elements from artists working with pigment, projection, and light.
Peggy Baker, one of the most influential contemporary dancers in the world, fuses dance, indie rock and visual art in this exploration of darkness and light. Seven dancers from the Peggy Baker Dance Projects are accompanied by live music from Arcade Fire members Jeremy Gara and Sarah Neufeld.
The series of contrasting tableaux are further enriched and expanded by video projections, lighting effects, and paintings from visual artist John Heward.

“Peggy… knows how to play up against contemporary orthodoxy and turn it on its head. It’s why she is a great artist…. what she does is always unexpected and always a joy to watch…” – Mikhail Baryshnikov, former principal dancer for New York City Ballet.
