A new politics of migration must make connections not only between migrants and citizens, but also between migration and other global processes, particularly the outsourcing and the exploitation of labour and resources in the global south.
Bridget Anderson is a professor of mobilities, migration and citizenship at the University of Bristol and a director of the University Research Institute Migration Mobilities Bristol. She was previously a research director of the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS). She is author of Us and Them? The Dangerous Politics of Immigration Controls (OUP, 2013) and Doing the Dirty Work: The Global Politics of Domestic Labour (Zed Books 2000). Anderson started her working life in the voluntary sector working with migrant domestic workers and has retained an interest in domestic labour and migration. She has worked closely with migrants’ organizations, trades unions and legal practitioners at a local, national and international level.
