McMaster’s natural environs are the jumping-off point for this art exhibition. Exploring McMaster’s Backyard features a selection of work from studio art students in the School of the Arts. Many of the works were produced in response to the Paradise Revisited project, which focuses on engaging the community with the natural lands on and surrounding campus. The project involved faculty, staff and students from across campus in talks, tours and field excursions promoting ideas of restoration, conservation, sustainability and interdisciplinary solutions to restoring our relationship with the natural world.
Paradise Revisited is a series of educational initiatives that have taken place over the last several years. It will evolve further in 2019/20 with the next phase entitled Designing Paradise that will feature an interdisciplinary course that concentrates on redesigning West Campus as a sustainable campus model.
Exhibition duration: April 30 – September 30, 2019 at Waller Family Lobby, L.R. Wilson Hall
