We are looking for a group of 16 individuals to participate in a workshop culminating in the performance of move – a 70-minute dance/installation under the direction of celebrated Canadian dance artist, Peggy Baker.
move is a community engagement project that explores basic dualities of caregiving: touching and being touched, watching and being witnessed, movement through the body and that same body’s movement through space. move calls up a multitude of ancient and timeless images; earth being plowed, the molding of clay, the kneading of bread, a midwife at work, a storm gathering, the swell of an ocean, the movement of a glacier, the heaving of a continent, the passing of time.
Individuals interested in being part of this powerful community engagement project are invited to register for a two-hour workshop from which 16 performers will be selected to work with Ms. Baker in the preparation and performance of this event.
Workshop: Saturday, November 10 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Art Gallery of Hamilton, 123 King Street West.
