Hamilton’s recent renaissance and the corresponding “revitalization” of the core have produced a new set of challenges for the city and its residents.
This two-day forum, including speakers, discussions and working groups, convened by McMaster University doctoral student Angela Orasch, will bring together stakeholders from across different sectors to share views and grapple with these challenges. The Gathering will feature installations and performances by local artists addressing the issues at hand and the role of artists in urban development
The forum is intended to launch a year-long working group, using a compilation of actionable items, policy suggestions, and calls for research that can loop back into the McMaster community, to examine the links between art, gentrification, and economic development in Hamilton.
